Hang A Spring Wreath On Your Front Door
Nothing says “spring is here” quite like a beautiful wreath on your front door! A spring wreath is more than just decoration. It’s a symbol of transition, marking winter’s farewell and the warm, welcoming arrival of spring. It’s one of the very first touches I add when I begin my spring decorating, and it always sets the tone for the season.
For a truly inviting entryway, I love crafting a lush, vibrant wreath that combines the charm of nature with the creativity of DIY decor. One of my favorite methods is using a grapevine wreath as the base and then embellishing it with elements like faux spring flowers, soft moss, and a charming twiggy nest. This not only adds texture and depth but also mirrors the delightful colors and energy of the outdoors.
A carefully designed spring wreath offers a warm, cheerful greeting to every guest and passersby, instantly transforming your entryway. For instance, the Forsythia Wreath above is made with just a few simple items yet bursting with springtime beauty.
Here’s where to get the needed materials and easy step-by-step directions for the Forsythia Wreath so you can make it now so it’s ready when you are ready to hang it on your front door and welcome the new season.
Do A Little Spring Cleaning And Organizing
Spring isn’t just about fresh blooms and beautiful decor. It’s also the perfect time to refresh your home with a thorough cleaning and smart organizing. As winter fades away, embracing a clean, clutter-free space can energize both your surroundings and your spirit.
In my home, I find that taking time to declutter and deep clean is a fantastic way to set a positive tone for the season. Start by tackling one room at a time and break down tasks into manageable steps. For example, sort through your closet or storage areas and donate items you no longer need. Clearing out the old makes room for new possibilities, and you’ll be surprised at how much lighter your space feels once you’ve said goodbye to winter’s clutter.
Next, consider giving surfaces a deep clean. Wipe down windows, dust off shelves, and refresh your floors. And put a simple cleaning schedule into practice! I’ve kept our home clean in less than 30 minutes daily. And a couple times a year, I spend a bit more time deep cleaning it, usually in the spring and fall. This plan has worked for decades! You might like to read How To Clean Your Home In 30-Minutes A Day.
Like my cleaning schedule, I’ve been working the same decluttering schedule for just about as long as I can remember! I spend just 15 minutes a day decluttering five days a week. That means I’ve decluttered for one hour and fifteen minutes in one week. In a month, I’ve decluttered for five hours. And in a year, about sixty hours. Wow! Built into my decluttering schedule are simple rules to live by when it comes to having an organized home. You might like to read How to Declutter Your Home In 15 Minutes A Day.
Remember, a well-organized home reflects a clear mind, setting you up for a season filled with productivity and positivity.
By dedicating a little time to spring cleaning and organizing, you’re not only welcoming the season with a renewed home but also inviting a fresh start in your life. So roll up your sleeves, put on some upbeat music, and let the transformation begin—your home will thank you for it!
Bring Spring Florals Indoors
Spring may be fleeting, but its beauty can live on in your home! I absolutely love filling my space with real spring flowers. It’s an effortless way to capture the essence of the season.
This decor idea is as simple as it is effective. All you need to do is pick up a bouquet from your local grocery store. Place them in a vase on your dining table, coffee table, or kitchen counter to infuse every corner of your home with the joyful energy of spring.
Here are some ideas so is something spring-inspired blooming in your home daily!
Use Tulips Liberally
Tulips are incredibly versatile and can suit a variety of interior styles. I particularly love white tulips because they offer a subtle elegance that complements neutral decor, creating a calm, sophisticated look. However, don’t hesitate to use tulips in spring pastels or even brightly colored varieties if you’re looking to add a vibrant pop of color to your space. I also love orange tulips. They add a fun color splash to our home.

I strive to keep my cut tulips looking fresh for at least a week or more. One of my most popular posts is How To Keep Cut Tulips Fresh Longer. In it, you will find easy ways to keep your tulips looking their best.
Potted Spring Flowers
If you want to bring a touch of nature into your home with potted spring flowers like tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, or pansies, consider taking your display to the next level by repotting them into a stylish container. This is one of my favorite ways to decorate for spring! I just got 3 containers of crocus at our local grocery store to replant in a pretty container. Look for a how-to later this week.
Rather than leaving flowering spring plants in their original pots, transfer your blooms to a decorative container that not only enhances your decor but also provides proper drainage. A container with drainage holes or pebbles in the bottom is essential as it allows excess water to escape, protecting your plants from root rot and ensuring they stay healthy.
To further elevate the look, add a layer of decorative moss on top of the soil. This not only hides any visible dirt but also offers practical benefits because moss helps the soil retain moisture, which means your plants are less likely to dry out quickly. The moss creates a lush, natural finish that ties your indoor spring garden together beautifully.
Remember, caring for your potted spring flowers doesn’t stop once they’re repotted. As the blooms begin to fade, be sure to pinch them off. This simple act of removing spent flowers encourages the plant to redirect its energy into producing new growth and maintaining overall vitality. And once the plant is done flowering, pull it from the container and add fresh spring flowering plants.
You can enjoy a vibrant and healthy display that celebrates the season by repotting your spring flowers into a pretty container, adding a touch of moss, and keeping up with regular maintenance. Let your indoor garden be a testament to the beauty of spring, bringing a refreshing burst of color and life into your home.
Planting Cool Stored Bulbs
Another way to have blooming spring flowers as part of your decor is to buy cool stored spring bulbs and plant them right into containers or put them in a hyacinth vase.
I do this with paperwhites at Christmas, and this year, I’m trying my hand at anemones for spring. Look for a post with how-to instructions for planting spring bulbs indoors.
Use Faux Flowers
I’m a huge fan of faux flowers. They’ve come such a long way, and when chosen carefully, they can look incredibly realistic in your home. Faux flowers offer a practical and long-lasting option for decorating, especially when you want the beauty of fresh blooms without the upkeep.
My rule of thumb for using faux flowers is simple:
Spring Faux Flower Tip
Use only the faux flowers that are blooming in season outside.
This ensures that your decor feels authentic and true to the current season. For example, if spring is in full swing, opt for faux arrangements that mimic spring flowers. This subtle detail maintains a consistent and cohesive link between your indoor decor and the natural world outside.
When selecting faux flowers, look for stems that offer a natural texture and color. High-quality faux blooms can provide a stunning, realistic look and the convenience of lasting beauty. Consider mixing them with real elements like potted plants or seasonal greenery to add depth and interest to your arrangements.
Incorporating faux flowers is a smart way to keep your home looking fresh and stylish. With thoughtful selection, faux flowers can beautifully enhance your spring decor while staying true to the season’s spirit.
Decorate With Spring Organics
Spring decor isn’t just about beautiful blooms. It’s also about incorporating the natural textures and shapes of organics and greenery. Decorating for spring should also include these elements. Adding greenery and texture through organics will bring depth and texture to your spring home.
I personally love using both real and faux options. If you have a less-than-green thumb like me regarding indoor plants, high-quality faux plants that look convincingly real can be a fantastic alternative. They provide all the natural charm without the constant care some live plants require. Just remember to find faux options that look very realistic!
Consider enhancing your home with a pretty potted fern or a bowl of lush moss. These elements add a subtle layer of texture and color that complements other spring accents. For a touch of whimsy and elegance, arrange a vase of tall pussy willow branches. Such pieces set the mood for spring in any room.
By mixing various forms of spring organics, you can create a cohesive look that brings the outdoors in. And isn’t that what we want to do in the spring! It’s all about balancing different textures and shades of green so your home feels as renewed as the season itself.
Blooming Spring Branches
One of my favorite spring decor ideas is to force flowering spring branches from trees or bushes. It’s so easy and is the most stunning spring decoration!
One of my absolute favorite spring decor ideas is to force flowering branches from trees or bushes. This simple yet stunning technique brings the season’s natural beauty indoors that bursts with life inside your home. Make sure you see How To Force Spring Branches. It offers detailed, step-by-step instructions to help you achieve gorgeous blooms at home.
If you have flowering trees and bushes in your yard you can cut them once you see swollen buds and read the post mentioned above for how to force them.
Last week, I bought forsythia branches at Trader Joe’s, and they have already bloomed into a riot of yellow flowers. In a couple weeks, I’ll visit our local Terrain and pick up quince branches, my favorite branches to force, like the ones blooming in the image above. If you want to treat yourself, you can buy them now and have them shipped to you HERE. I think everyone should experience the beauty of quince branches blooming right inside your home!
The beauty of forced spring branches lies in their delicate colors and elegant forms. As they burst into bloom, you’ll see a range of soft pastel shades that instantly refresh your space and signal the arrival of spring. Whether you’re placing them in a vase on your dining table or arranging them as a centerpiece in a large urn, these branches create a focal point that captures the essence of the season.
Create A Spring Vignette
Another delightful spring decor idea is to create a simple spring vignette. A vignette is more than just a decorative arrangement. It’s a collection of items that come together to tell a unique story about your style and personality. Think of a spring vignette as layering different elements that reflect the cheerful and fresh spirit of spring.
I love incorporating everyday items like candles, trays, and books with seasonal accents such as bunnies, nests, and Easter eggs. When artfully arranged, these elements form a mini focal point that can instantly brighten up any space.

So go ahead, gather your favorite items, experiment with different arrangements, and create a spring vignette that adds a touch of seasonal beauty to your home and reflects your unique style and personality.
Fill Your Home With the Scents Of Spring
A true nature-inspired spring refresh isn’t complete without infusing your home with the delightful aromas of the season. Spring scents evoke the essence of spring and create a warm, inviting atmosphere that rejuvenates both body and mind.
My favorite way to capture these seasonal fragrances is by using essential oil diffusers. Add a few drops of your favorite spring-inspired oils and let the diffuser work its magic. If you prefer a more traditional approach, opt for scented candles or potpourri that feature notes reminiscent of a blossoming garden. For those who love a little DIY, make a spring simmer pot using fresh scented fruit like lemons and early blooming herbs.
Each method can be easily tailored to your personal taste and make your home smell like spring!
Introduce A Little Spring Color
Do you get inspired by color? Even though I love my neutral home, I’m undeniably a huge color fan! When spring arrives, I love drawing inspiration directly from nature to infuse my space with a touch of color.
Take our bedroom, for example. The coverlet and shams in soft duck egg blue capture my heart every time. I’m so captivated by this gentle yet striking shade that I’ve even considered painting the entire room in this gorgeous color. The soft hues of spring blend seamlessly with my overall color palette, creating a calming and inviting atmosphere.
No matter what your current color scheme is, consider adding a little seasonal flair to your decor. I’m currently brainstorming ideas to brighten up my spring living room, so stay tuned for more inspiration in our upcoming Spring Home Tour.
Embrace the beauty of spring’s colors and let them transform your home!
Lighten Up Your Textiles
One of the easiest ways to usher in the spring season is by refreshing your home textiles. Think about all the things you use every day. Bed linens, throw pillows, decorative throws, accent rugs, and curtains. This is your chance to swap out heavy, bulky fabrics for lighter, airier options that reflect the vibrant spirit of spring.
Instead of layering on one heavy piece, opt for a series of lightweight layers that create depth and texture without weighing your space down. For example, replace a heavy winter duvet with a lightweight coverlet that breathes and adds a fresh look to your bedroom.
My favorite textile update is changing out our pillows. They have the power to instantly transform the look and feel of any room. By incorporating fabrics like cotton, linen, or other light natural fibers, you not only enhance the decor but also create a more comfortable and inviting environment.
This simple yet effective spring decorating idea works in any room of your home. Beautiful, breathable textiles can dramatically shift the look and feel of your space, making it open, warm, and ready for the season.
Incorporate A Few Seasonal Accent
When it comes to decorating for spring, you don’t have to overwhelm your space with a parade of bunnies, chicks, Easter eggs, and nests. Sometimes, less is more. A few carefully chosen, tasteful accents are all you need to capture the essence of the season.
Consider incorporating subtle seasonal touches, such as a few spring flowers or a delicate arrangement that echoes this season of renewal. The key is to select one or two items that speak to you and complement your existing decor rather than cluttering your space with too many thematic pieces.
For instance, I’m generally not one to overdo spring accents, but I couldn’t resist this handsome pair of black rabbits. I originally purchased them a few years ago to grace our spring mantel, and over time, they’ve found new homes from room to room. This spring, you might spot them in our kitchen, adding a touch of charm without overpowering the space. They serve as a perfect example of how a single, well-chosen accent can transform a room and celebrate the season with elegance.
So, whether you lean towards a more minimalist approach or enjoy a few quirky details, remember that a couple of well-placed, seasonal accents can make a big impact, bringing in the spirit of spring while keeping your decor cohesive and refined.
Plant Eary Spring Herbs Indoors
When I think about spring, herbs are one of the first things that come to mind! Not only do they bring life and natural beauty into your home, but they also serve as a practical and delicious addition to your kitchen. Imagine the fresh scent of mint or basil greeting you every morning, or having thyme and oregano ready for your favorite recipes, all while enhancing your decor.
For those looking to get started, The Ultimate Guide To Planting Herbs Indoors is an excellent resource. It walks you through how to choose, plant, and care for your indoor herbs so you can enjoy their beauty and flavor year-round.
Currently, I have small pots of mint, basil, thyme, and oregano arranged in my kitchen, adding a vibrant touch to my everyday cooking space. And as early spring arrives, I take my herb gardening outdoors as well—planting chives, mint, lemon balm, and parsley near our patio. Once these plants grow big enough, I love creating herb bouquets. A small bouquet arranged in a glass vase or pretty jar, perhaps tied with a thin pastel ribbon, makes a charming accent anywhere in the home.
Herbs aren’t just for the kitchen, either. I often place a sprig or two on my nightstand or in the powder room, where their fresh aroma can subtly uplift the space. So this spring, don’t overlook the beauty and practicality of herbs. Whether indoors or out, they’re a wonderful way to bring a touch of nature and a burst of flavor to your home decor.
As you’ve seen, welcoming spring into your home is all about celebrating renewal and natural beauty. Creating nature-inspired spaces that reflect the fresh spirit of spring is the essence of spring decorating. From the soft pastels of fresh tulips and blooming branches to the delightful aroma of herbs and essential oils, there are countless ways to infuse your home with the spring.

Hi Becky, look on Wayfair. Sorry I don’t have a link.
Awesome tips for Spring. I love the poppies and want to order. When I went to the website to order the color of yours I got confused. They don’t offer a peach color like yours or could it be pink?
Click on “pink”. They are definitely peach but the choice is pink. Here’s the link:https://rstyle.me/+TGWJnJgIGTxWIhvzJtcpNg
Great Spring decor tips, Yvonne! I like how you used the reindeer moss with the white flowers in your round dish. Also, putting some water in a vase with faux flowers is an excellent idea. I have always thought of having an indoor herb garden and I think this will be the Spring to plant one. You always have such great ideas for us and I thank you for always going that extra mile for us. Bless you!
Thanks, Mary Ann! I hope you do try an indoor herb garden. It’s so rewarding.
Hi Yvonne, I’m just coming back to this post. You inspired me with the pansies in the footed bowl. I took your cue , using a brass lattice work bowl. I purchased some moss sheets, lined the bowl, placed another bowl within the bowl and planted white pansies, covered with moss. I have it on my ottoman in a brass tray. Love the springtime look, since right now it is rainy, stormy and freezing here in the SF Bay Area. The unexpected snow makes our area lovely especially in Napa and Sonoma…Have a great week….
Sounds so beautiful
Sounds so pretty, Nancy!
Hi Yvonne, just an update on the pansies in the brass bowl, they are still blooming, and giving a much needed shot of spring cheer, on a rainy Sunday. I love your idea, and when the pansies, go I’ll find something else to plant for summer…have a lovely Sunday..tomorrow 1st day of spring!!!
Love all the inspiration. I am having trouble remembering how I staged my dining table last spring! One time I read the suggestion somewhere that we should take a photo of a tablescape and other decor to keep for next year. I may do that this year. I do have around 10 wreaths that I rotate throughout the year – some I have made myself, others I have purchased. I am already thinking of the outside of our home. For the first time ever we are having our lawn mowed this year by a landscaper. We have always had our flowering trees pruned early each spring, and I just today contacted the tree service for that. We will also be having our home exterior and windows washed after the spring/early summer pollen season passes. We are looking at paint samples to select a new color for the front door. As far as the inside goes, I always use the first 3 months of every year to purchase new items that we need. I installed new comb blinds in the bedrooms myself. I also refreshed the bedding in the primary bedroom. Next up is a refresh of our powder room. I think these smaller updates really make a difference in our home.
Hi Yvonne,
When looking through all your wonderful spring ideas, I saw artwork to the left of your bed. Is that a recent purchase and can still be sourced? I just love it! If so may I have the information?
Every post of yours is like opening a present in my email! Thank you!
Becky
All of your ideas are incredibly stunning, Yvonne!! It gets me so excited to start putting out my Spring decor next month!!
Thank you for your very sweet comment, Rachel.
