Weekly Wednesday Wish List #193

I have a bit of a rant this week, friends! Maybe you can relate.

As I picked out spring clothing for WWW this week, I was struck by all the throwback styles making a comeback. It was like running into a few old friends! Oversized blazers, denim shirts, and timeless wrap dresses (thank you, Diane von Furstenberg).

But then there were the trends I didn’t expect to see again: mid-length denim skirts plucked straight out of the ’80s and ’90s, peasant blouses, bell bottoms, and Birkenstocks from the ’70s, and mom jeans straight from the ’90s and early ‘2000s. Shoulder pads are back, along with maxi dresses, excessive ruffles, and an abundance of tiny floral prints. It’s as if the ready-to-wear industry decided to revive every unflattering style from decades past all at once!

I spent the bloom of my youth in unflattering clothes like bell bottoms, Indian moccasins, and peasant tops, and my ’20s and ’30s in huge shoulder pads, so let’s just say I’ve seen enough of these trends the first time around.

Well, you know what they say… what goes around comes around! And that’s even true of questionable taste!

I’m sharing my list first today, enjoy!

ANSWER TO #7: Pansies symbolize remembrance and love. Narcissus is the scientific name for a daffodil. Narcissus was a Greek god who fell in love with his own reflection and, in death, was transformed into a daffodil. Now you know!

9. WHAT’S INSPIRING ME AROUND THE WEB: This is the embodiment of updated traditional mixed with modern vintage, here’s a stunning example of timeless rustic chic with Provençal panache, and this one is a bit more modern but with tons of warmth and lovely details.
