These simple yet enchanting embellishments will make your Christmas decor sparkle with charm and cheer—I use them every year, and they never fail to bring the magic!

Want to know the secret to add that sugarplum-and-pixie-dust feeling to your holiday home? These ideas are easy to use and perfect for reimagining year after year. Let’s make this Christmas your most magical yet by using these items to embellish our Christmas home.

While you peruse the images in this post, take notice of how I used these wonderful Christmas elements together! Let’s start with something I can’t resist…

Use Faux Snow Liberally

snow and antler in a white pedestal bowl

This is my absolute favorite Christmas decor embellishment, and for good reason! Up close, it looks like finely shredded white plastic, but once it’s sprinkled into place, it transforms into the softest, most ethereal-looking Hallmark movie snow. It’s perfect for creating magical displays at the base of a candle or down the center of a table. The effect? Simply stunning!

Here’s the best part: faux snow is reusable! I scoop it up after the holidays, store it in a plastic bag, and bring it back out year after year.

If you’re looking for the ultimate in faux snow, Pottery Barn has it covered. Their fake snow is hands down the best—it’s all I ever use! Add a little to your decor, and watch your holiday spaces come to life with wintry charm! See my favorite faux snow HERE.

Add Cranberries For A Pop Of Color

Christmas simmer pot with cranberries

Real cranberries are an essential holiday decor, adding a natural and festive touch to your Christmas displays. Their bright, cheerful red hue pops against greenery, whites, and metallics, making them perfect for creating that classic holiday feel. Cranberries are versatile and beautiful.

To make sure they last, select firm, hard berries without any mushy spots and keep them refrigerated until you are ready to use them. Cranberries are pretty Christmas decor and a budget-friendly option for adding a natural, seasonal touch to your home. Once the holidays are over, you can compost them, making them an eco-friendly choice, too!

STACKING BOWLS WITH SPRIGS OF GREENS

I have clear plastic shoeboxes brimming with bits and pieces of faux greens—some sparkly, some frosted, some adorned with berries, and others simple evergreens. Every piece has a realistic look, and these small additions always elevate my Christmas decor. Just a tiny sprig of evergreen or a cluster of berries can make any holiday creation look more polished and festive.

Pro Tip

Glittery Christmas tree

Glittery Christmas decor has a way of catching the light and instantly transforming any space into a holiday wonderland. Don’t we love a bit of glitz during the Holiday season? Glittter’s reflective sparkle adds depth, dimension, and a sense of glamour to your festive settings, elevating even the simplest displays. Mix a bit of glittered decor with other textures and materials, making your decor feel balanced and intentional.

Beyond their aesthetic appeal, glittery touches evoke feelings of joy and celebration, adding an extra layer of magic to the season. The most common way to add a bit of glitter is on a Christmas tree. But think about using a bit of frosted sparkle to your decor as well.

I love these ideas – many that I already incorporate. I just got some faux Mongolian fur pillows this year (that I love!!) but I am in the market for a good faux Mongolian throw. Can you make a recommendation??
Merry Christmas and thank you! LoriDee

  3. Lovely ideas, Yvonne, and easy for an amateur like myself, to incorporate into my Christmas decor. I share your love of pinecones, and use them…. everywhere. May actually have an addiction to them, as I cannot go for a walk in our wooded neighborhood, without stuffing a few in my pockets. Adopted your suggestion to bleach some, and decorate with them every season. They pair nicely with nuts in the shell, especially walnuts. Also, smaller ones look pretty in layers in wide vases and jars with walnuts, tiny faux apples, small ornaments, and wooden or real cranberries. For the cranberries, purchase a wooden garland and cut them loose. The list of decor choices with pinecones is endless. Thanks for encouraging us to use our imaginations. Enjoying your Christmas posts and appreciate all your effort to share with us, especially as we are sheltering. A wonderful time to pretty our homes and enjoy.

Yvonne, Thank you for so many wonderful suggestions. They are all beautiful. For me, the thing that adds magic to all of my holiday displays are the battery operated LED micro lights…sometimes called rice or seed lights. I add them to my mantle display, dining table centerpiece, kitchen island display, etc. They tuck so easily into any greens/faux greens and the timer battery pack is easy to hide among greens and ribbons. I also have them on both of my outside door swags. It’s so fun to see them all switch on around the time the sun is fading.

    1. What a great idea, Judy! Yes, those kind of fairy lights are magical!

  5. Love your ideas especially the pine cones and cranberries. And who doesn’t love fairy lights to add to the magic !!

  8. I agree with you totally on ribbon. You can find beautiful ribbon even at Dollar tree but my favorite place to buy ribbon is at Hobby Lobby. They already have 50% off in Christmas. It is my Christmas luxury to give a gift with an elegant bow to me the wrapping is a personal touch for each person. Love your ide of adding natural pine and pine ones too. Only a lot of my gifts need to be shipped so wire and burlap ribbon is my favorite.

    1. In our family and extended family, we all use real ribbon and save the ribbon we get on a package and use it year to year. It’s so fun to “pass around” the ribbon and see whose package it ends up on.

  9. So crisp and elegant! I do like that you mix different materials and some fr I also put out things my grandkids can touch, pick up and make music with.
